Matthew Allen - Wood Artisan 

Matthew Allen grew up in Georgia, where he first discovered an interest in woodworking by watching his father in his shop. He graduated from the University of Georgia and moved to Birmingham in 2004, where his fiancée was in medical school.

He has spent his career in newspaper and magazine publishing. In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, he embarked on making furniture, and his passion for working with wood was discovered. That summer, he began taking commission work and he never looked back. He has been a featured artist in several art shows and festivals around the Birmingham area.
