Karen Dixon - Glass Artisan

With an early background in research science, Karen brings curiosity, precision, and a strong experimental mindset to her studio practice. She is especially drawn to the technical side of kiln-formed glass and continues to develop her work through testing, refinement, and hands-on exploration.

Professionally, Karen works in graduate medical education, leading curriculum and faculty development efforts for residency programs. Whether in the studio or in her professional work, she is driven by curiosity, problem-solving, and the satisfaction of creating something thoughtful and well crafted.

The Grid:  This piece contrasts a geometric base with a softer vessel form. It is centered on balance, proportion, and the visual tension between structure and curve.

Kiln-cast leaf (no title):  An abstract leaf form developed through kiln-casting, with layered green tones and subtle internal movement. The focus was on creating a strong, balanced shape with enough depth and variation to keep the piece visually active.

Autumn Trail: A vertical glass panel built through layered color, imagery, and texture. The piece uses integrated leaf forms and surface variation to create depth and visual complexity.
